I was craving something sweet the other day so I decided to see what was around the house and bake with it. I found some oreos, I found some nutella, and other more normal baking ingredients and thus 'Oreo Nutella mug cake' was born. It's made for one, but you could share it if you're feeling particularly generous. Here's what you'll need.
80g (1/3 cup) caster sugar
Use the biggest mug you own so the cake doesn't over flow as it rises. I think this mug is meant for soups or something because it is HUGE.
Add the flour and sugar to the mug, mix.
Crack 1 egg into the mug along with 2 tablespoons of Nutella. At this point also add the oil, milk and vanilla essence, mix well.
Place as many Oreo's as will fit on top of the mix. Then using a teaspoon, dollop some Nutella on top of each Oreo, how much you add is up to you but I put at least one heaped teaspoon per cookie. Then push the Oreo's down so they are covered with the cake mix.
Put the mug in the microwave for 4 - 5 minutes on full power. You'll know it's done when it's springy to the touch.
It demands a glass of cold milk with it if you ask me, or a hot chocolate, or ice-cream, or custard. It will be piping hot when it comes out so give it a few minutes to cool down before eating. If you're a little random with measuring, add less sugar than you think you need because the Nutella is already quiet sweet and you don't want tooth ache. As you dig your spoon in you'll find delicious pieces of cookie and pockets of gooey chocolatey Nutella too.
