Weekly Inspirations

I've got a lot of books to get through since my little sister brought piles of them home from work (WH Smiths), I got books for my birthday, and I ordered some myself, so expect many reviews in future posts.

Lately I've been obsessed with skincare too so I'll pop up some product reviews in due course, the annoying thing about cleansers/moisturizers etc is that you have to give it a few weeks of use to see if its really doing what it claims it does on the tin.

Here's what I can't get enough of, can you tell I'm in an Autumn mood?

I linked all my favorite songs of the moment here, I've pretty much been listening to them non-stop. Especially the first one.

Thoughtless - Evanescence

Georgia on my mind - Ray Charles

Only love can hurt like this (acoustic) - Paloma Faith

Chandelier (acoustic) - Sia

Love you like a love song - Selena Gomez

Love Stoned - Justin Timberlake

Little Monster - Royal Blood

Freak on a leech - Korn

Before I forget - Slipknot

Golden - Fall Out Boy

Feminist protest at the Chanel fashion show.

At the Chanel Paris fashion show, Karl Lagerfeld re-created a French street, where his army of models shook banners saying things like 'boys should get pregnant too' and 'women first' whilst shouting through megaphones. I'm in two minds about this. There is an obvious intention of spreading the issue of female rights and equality, and I'm happy that if one good thing comes from the display, young women - in the often warped world of fashion - will look up the true definition, and importance of the word 'feminism'.

However he meant this to be received, he's exposing the issue of gender inequality to a lot of women (and billions of women watch the Chanel show) who might not have been interested otherwise, which is amazing.

Jenifier Lawrence - her powerful and unapologetic response on the leaking of her naked pictures:

“Just because I'm a public figure, just because I’m an actress, does not mean that I asked for this. It does not mean that it comes with the territory. It’s my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can’t believe that we even live in that kind of world. ”
Why she hasn't responded until now, “Every single thing that I tried to write made me cry or get angry. I started to write an apology, but I don’t have anything to say I’m sorry for. I was in a loving, healthy, great relationship for four years. It was long distance, and either your boyfriend is going to look at porn or he’s going to look at you.”
“It is a sexual violation. It’s disgusting. The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. That’s why these websites are responsible. Just the fact that somebody can be sexually exploited and violated, and the first thought that crosses somebody’s mind is to make a profit from it. It’s so beyond me. I just can’t imagine being that detached from humanity. I can’t imagine being that thoughtless and careless and so empty inside.”
“Anybody who looked at those pictures, you’re perpetuating a sexual offense. You should cower with shame. Even people who I know and love say, ‘Oh, yeah, I looked at the pictures.’ I don’t want to get mad, but at the same time I’m thinking, I didn’t tell you that you could look at my naked body.”
No words, just admiration. You go Lawrence.

TV - The Vampire Diaries

I've been a fan of this show from the very first episode, its based on a book (which sucks by the way, don't read it) but thankfully the shows adaptation is nothing like it. Now in its 6th series, the characters are much more complicated, rich with history and facing all new challenges and as usual, plenty of personal loss (ie: death)

I watched the new episode online but I have no idea when it premiers on UK television? if you do, please let me know! I really like how they are dealing with the issue of addiction, and can't wait to see how the new story lines play out.

Happy Thursday! go eat a cookie or something xoxo
